Crystal Castle

4/1/2025

I read about the Crystal Castle in my Lonely Planet travel book and thought, "huh, maybe if I have time." Then I went to the website and watched the 12 minute video that details the history of the place and how the guy who owns it went to a party on the property back in 1985 and started dreaming of creating this place, how they finally got funding to get started, etc. and loved the whole hippie vibe and story so I decided I needed to go check this place out. And it was kind of spendy at $49.95 AUD (about $32 US).

And I'm so glad I went! I spent the entire day there wandering around the gardens and exploring the big slabs of crystals placed all over the grounds...I was bracing for a place that was sort of "schlocky" or cheap but that's not what I got...Everything was very thoughtfully laid out and organized and has been created over 30+ years vs. slapped together overnight...The stories about how the owner and his family traveled overseas in search of the various crystals they eventually found, purchased, and brought back to their site...Some of the crystals being so large and heavy they became lodged in the packing containers and took several hours to get them out or crystals so big, they had to place them where they wanted them and then build a structure around them to protect them.

Throughout the day they held crystal sound healing sessions as well as a crystal meditation. I took my time and embraced all of the experiences and even had a groovy noodley salad thing for lunch that was very good. When you go to their website this is the list of experiences you have access to:

I mean who wouldn't want to go check this out?!? Here is a subset of the photos I took during my visit - highly recommended if you are in the Byron Bay area (and PS, you SHOULD BE in the Byron Bay area!!!)
